Current and retired members of PFFM Local Unions, their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) can apply for a PFFM Foundation Scholarship. Grandchildren are not eligible unless they are a legal dependent (as defined by IRS regulations). At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant’s parental guardian. The one-year membership minimum must be satisfied by September 1, 2024.
The scholarship applies to any year of study, from the freshman year of college through the last year of graduate school, including trade schools and U.S. accredited certificate programs in fire science, EMT certification or another fire-education. Applicant must have graduated high school and be accepted into one of said schools at the time the award is issued.
Preference for one scholarship will be for a graduate of Watertown High School, in memory of PFFM Emeritus Robert McCarthy.
Deadline is October 21 12pm EST
Amount will be $1,000 and these are one-time awards.
Students may re-apply each year.
Recipients will be notified by email and mailed letter on or before December 31, 2024.
