Committee on Political Education

The mission of the Committee on Political Education (COPE) is to educate our 12,000 plus members about politics across the commonwealth. We are tasked with organizing efforts to ensure that our endorsed candidates are elected into office. 


With Missouri becoming the 28th state to pass "Right to Work" legislation, the threat level of a National Right to Work Law is growing. New Hampshire will be holding a full house vote to hopefully vote down "Right to Work" legislation on Thursday.  So what does "Right to Work" mean.
As Legislators return to session to begin work on their 2012 agendas, we should be reminded that all around this country our rights will again be attacked. As close as New Hampshire, fire fighters' collective bargaining rights are once again facing an aggressive assault by their State Legislature. Below is a reminder of the attacks that we, the PFFM, have endured just last year and our brothers and sisters in New Hampshire are battling again today. This is an article written by one of our members and published in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette on May 5, 2011. Collective Bargaining is one of our most important rights and must be protected. 
As our Congressmen, state legislators, and local politicians continue to do the work of running our government, it is of utmost importance that the views and priorities of the fire fighters are understood at every level. It is incumbent upon the leadership of our Locals to ensure that all of our politicians are knowledgeable when acting on any legislation that impacts fire fighters. The following are Tips for Successful Lobbying, as suggested by the IAFF:
